Board Game Caddy Open App

Terms of Use

Last updated 13 October 2026

The ground rules for using Board Game Caddy. Short, readable, and written to be fair rather than to cover every imaginable eventuality.

The short version. Board Game Caddy is software from an independent developer. Use it, enjoy it, but do not rely on it as the only copy of anything. Your data is yours. Be decent to other people. We are not BoardGameGeek.

1. Agreement

By using Board Game Caddy (the "app") or this website, you agree to these terms. If you do not agree, please do not use them.

2. A service that keeps changing

Board Game Caddy is actively developed. Features change, and occasionally break or disappear. There may be downtime without notice. Data loss is unlikely but possible.

Because plays you log are written back to your BoardGameGeek account, BGG remains a copy of your play history. We still recommend using the app's export feature periodically.

3. Your BoardGameGeek account

The app works by connecting to your BoardGameGeek account with your permission. You are responsible for your BGG credentials and for the activity that happens under your account.

Board Game Caddy is an independent project. It is not affiliated with, endorsed by, or sponsored by BoardGameGeek. Game data, images and metadata come from BoardGameGeek and remain subject to their terms. Your use of BoardGameGeek is governed by their rules, not ours, and nothing here overrides them.

4. Your data

Your collection, plays, players and game nights belong to you. We claim no ownership of them. We store and process them only to run the service, as described in our Privacy Policy.

You can export your data at any time from within the app, and you can ask us to delete your account by emailing hello@boardgamecaddy.com.

5. Acceptable use

Please do not:

  • Attempt to break into, overload, or disrupt the service or its infrastructure
  • Use the app to harass anyone, or upload content that is illegal or abusive
  • Scrape, resell, or redistribute the service or data belonging to other users
  • Use the app in a way that violates BoardGameGeek's terms or their API limits

Custom images you upload must be yours to use. We can remove content and suspend accounts that break these rules.

6. Free and premium

Board Game Caddy has a free tier that is a complete, usable app, and a premium tier with additional features. Beta testers received premium for free, including lifetime grants. Those grants will be honoured.

Premium is optional. Nothing here obliges you to pay for anything.

Plans and prices

Premium is available as a monthly plan, an annual plan, or a one-time lifetime purchase. Current prices are shown on the pricing page in the app, in Canadian dollars. Applicable taxes are calculated at checkout and added to the price.

Who processes your payment

Payments are handled by Stripe through its Link service, which acts as the reseller (the merchant of record) for your purchase. Your receipt and invoice come from Link, your card statement shows Link, and Link's own terms also apply to the payment. We never see or store your card details.

Renewal and cancelling

Monthly and annual plans renew automatically at the end of each period until you cancel. If the price of your plan changes, we will tell you before it applies to a renewal. You can cancel at any time from Preferences, Account, Manage billing. When you cancel, Premium stays on until the end of the period you already paid for, and the plan does not renew.

Refunds

  • Monthly plan: payments are not refunded, including for part of a month.
  • Annual plan: if you cancel, you can ask for a refund of the unused part of your year. Each month you have started counts as used and is charged at the monthly price; we refund the rest of what you paid. Premium then ends at the end of your current month. For example, at today's prices, cancelling three months in refunds $39.99 minus 3 × $4.99, which is $25.02. Once the months used add up to what you paid, nothing is left to refund.
  • Lifetime: fully refundable if you ask within 14 days of buying it. After that, it is not refundable.

To ask for a refund, email hello@boardgamecaddy.com with your BoardGameGeek username. Refunds go back to the original payment method, taxes included, and end the Premium access they paid for. If you switch from a monthly or annual plan to lifetime, your plan stops renewing and the time you already paid for is not refunded.

Lifetime

Lifetime is a launch offer, available until December 31, 2026 (Eastern time) or until its 50 memberships are gone, whichever comes first. Some of them are reserved for beta testers and promotions. It is a single payment that keeps Premium on for as long as Board Game Caddy runs, with no renewals. If a payment is disputed or reversed, the Premium access it paid for can be removed.

Nothing in these terms limits rights you have under consumer protection law, including Quebec's Consumer Protection Act.

7. Availability

We aim to keep the service running, but we do not promise any particular uptime. We may change, suspend, or discontinue features at any time. If we ever shut the service down, we will give reasonable notice and a chance to export your data.

8. No warranty

The service is provided "as is" and "as available", without warranties of any kind, whether express or implied, including fitness for a particular purpose and non-infringement. You use it at your own risk.

9. Limitation of liability

To the fullest extent permitted by law, we are not liable for any indirect, incidental, or consequential damages, or for lost data or lost profits, arising from your use of the service. Some jurisdictions do not allow these exclusions, in which case they apply to you only as far as the law allows.

10. Ending your use

You can stop using the app at any time and ask for your account to be deleted. We may suspend or terminate accounts that break these terms or that put the service at risk.

11. Changes

We may update these terms. The date at the top shows the last revision, and for material changes we will post a notice in the app or on this site. Continuing to use the app after a change means you accept the updated terms.

12. Governing law

These terms are governed by the laws of the Province of Quebec and the applicable laws of Canada, without regard to conflict-of-law rules.
